Micko aims to return to form at KDM Hire Cookstown 100

For Michael Sweeney, the 2016 KDM Hire Cookstown 100 was one to forget. After a good qualifying, which saw him on the front row for the twins and the superbike race ,Sweeney was looking forward to race day, however, Saturday morning dawned, and the Skerries rider wasn’t feeling his usual self.

He decided to gout for a lap and see how he felt, but, unfortunately for him, he was just too weak, and wisely decided to pull in and call it a day!

For 2017, Micko, as he is known to everyone, is putting last years bad luck behind him, and is looking forward to a new challenge in 2017 at the KDM Hire Cookstown 100.where he will be on board a BMW instead of his trusty ZX10 that has served him so well in recent years.

Reflecting on his KDM Hire Cookstown 100 performances, Sweeney reckons his second place behind Michael Dunlop in the supertwins in 2015, not only did he lead at times, but learnt to so much when Dunlop was in front of him. This year , the supertwin and 600  have both been upgraded, so, no doubt, Micko  is hoping to be closer to the front guys!
